The Department of Physical Education of SDM College of Business Management, Mangaluru, organized a guest lecture on Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) on 10 March 2026.
Dr. S. Muralidhar Yadav, MBBS, Postgraduate, Department of Community Medicine at Kasturba Medical College and Hospital, Mangaluru, was the resource person. The lecture was conducted as part of a research study on the assessment of determinants of Body Dysmorphic Disorder and its effect on health status among university students in Mangalore.
Dr. Yadav explained the causes, psychological impact, and health implications of BDD, highlighting the influence of social media and societal beauty standards on body image. The session created awareness among students about maintaining a positive body image and mental well-being.
