The Department of Computer Applications, SDM College of Business Management, Mangalore, organised “Career Compass: Alumni Guidance for Student Success” on 3 August 2026 at the Computer Lab for the final year ‘A’ section BCA students. A total of 60 students participated in the programme. The programme was conducted with the objective of guiding students towards effective career planning and professional development. The resource person Ms. Harshni, Process Executive, Cognizant, Mangalore.
As a distinguished alumna, she shared her inspiring journey from college to the corporate world. She encouraged students to make the best use of their graduation years by focusing on academics as well as skill development. She emphasised the importance of acquiring technical knowledge alongside strong communication and interpersonal skills. She shared practical tips for preparing resumes and performing confidently in technical and HR interviews. She motivated students to develop problem-solving abilities, teamwork, leadership, and adaptability to meet workplace expectations. She also spoke about the significance of networking and building a professional profile from the early stages of graduation.
The session provided students with valuable insights into corporate culture and career growth opportunities. Students actively participated in the interactive session and raised several questions regarding career prospects, higher education, and placement preparation.
