Consumer Club Inauguration and Commencement of Consumer Education Short-Term Course

The Consumer Club of SDM College of Business Management, Mangaluru, organized the Inauguration of the Consumer Club and the Commencement of the Consumer Education Short-Term Course on 24th August 2024. The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students about consumer rights, responsibilities, and the importance of consumer education in the present-day world.

The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Sunanda K., President, D.K. District Federation of Consumer Organisation. In her inaugural address, she emphasized the importance of consumer education and awareness among students. She highlighted the need for young individuals to be well-informed about their rights and responsibilities as consumers in order to make wise and responsible decisions in the marketplace.

The Guest of Honour, Mrs. Sunanda Dambekodi, Secretary, D.K. District Federation of Consumer Organisation, addressed the gathering and provided an overview of the functioning and activities of the D.K. District Federation of Consumer Organisation. She explained how the organisation works towards protecting consumer interests and creating awareness in society, thereby benefiting consumers and contributing to consumer welfare.

Dr. Bhanuprakash B. E., Principal, SDM College of Business Management, addressed the students and emphasized the growing need for consumer awareness among the younger generation. He encouraged students not only to become informed and responsible consumers but also to take an active role in spreading consumer awareness among the wider community.

The programme marked the formal commencement of the Consumer Education Short-Term Course, providing students with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and understanding of consumer rights, responsibilities, consumer protection, and grievance redressal mechanisms. The Consumer Club was envisioned as a platform to engage students in various activities such as awareness programmes, workshops, competitions, extension activities, and educational visits related to consumer education and protection.
