The Consumer Club of SDM College of Business Management, Mangaluru, organized a Guest Lecture on “Consumer Education and Awareness” on 24th August 2024. The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students about consumer rights, responsibilities, and the importance of being informed and responsible consumers in the present-day marketplace.
Mrs. Sunanda K., President, D.K. District Federation of Consumer Organisation, and Mrs. Sunanda Dambekodi, Secretary, D.K. District Federation of Consumer Organisation, served as the resource persons for the session. They shared valuable insights on various aspects of consumer education and highlighted the importance of understanding consumer rights and responsibilities. The resource persons also discussed common consumer problems and the remedies available to consumers in addressing grievances and protecting their interests.
The lecture was followed by an interactive discussion session, during which students actively raised questions regarding consumer rights and the problems they had encountered as consumers. The resource persons addressed their queries and provided practical suggestions and solutions, helping students gain a better understanding of consumer protection and grievance redressal mechanisms.
The session proved to be informative and beneficial, enhancing students’ awareness of consumer-related issues and encouraging them to become vigilant, informed, and responsible consumers.
