The Career Guidance & Placement Cell, in association with ExxonMobil Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, organized a Pre-Placement Orientation Programme on 24th September 2026. The ExxonMobil recruitment team – Ms. Swetha Shetty, Ms. Anumary Xavier, and Ms. Sania Dechamma – along with our proud alumnus, Mr. Rohit Shetty, were present for the programme. The programme was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Bhanuprakash B.E.
The objective of the Pre-Placement Orientation Programme was to provide students with valuable insights into the corporate world, career opportunities, and the professional skills and attitude required to build a successful career. The programme also aimed to familiarize students with the work culture of a global organization and emphasize the importance of communication, continuous learning, adaptability, and professionalism.
The Principal emphasized the importance of “Know” over “No”, encouraging students to develop the habit of gaining knowledge, asking questions, and approaching new situations with an open and positive mindset. The Principal also highlighted the 3Ds – Discipline, Dedication, and Determination, encouraging students to maintain discipline, remain dedicated to learning, and stay determined to achieve their academic and career goals
Ms. Anumary Xavier introduced students to ExxonMobil as a global organization operating on a large international scale. The session provided an overview of its diverse business operations, including upstream operations, product solutions, and low-carbon solutions. She also highlighted the company’s focus on innovation and investment in communities.
Ms. Swetha Shetty shared her experience of working in the corporate sector and explained that a career does not always follow a single path. Employees may get opportunities to work in different functions, learn new skills, and take on new responsibilities. Her professional journey demonstrated the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and gaining diverse experience. She also explained ECF (Early Career Foundation) and highlighted its importance in helping young professionals build a strong foundation during the initial years of their careers. Her early career experience included areas such as Trading, Law and Public Affairs, Human Resources, and Supply. These experiences helped her build a strong professional foundation and gain exposure to different aspects of the organization. She encouraged students to approach their careers like a blank slate, remaining open to new knowledge, skills, experiences, and opportunities.
Mr. Rohit Shetty, our proud alumnus, shared valuable insights with the students based on his professional experience. He emphasized the importance of developing good communication skills and attending classes regularly as important aspects of preparing for a career. Students were encouraged to understand that there may not always be one right answer in the workplace. They were therefore advised to ask questions, remain curious, and keep learning.
Overall, the Pre-Placement Orientation Programme was an informative and valuable session that helped students gain a better understanding of ExxonMobil, the corporate environment, career opportunities, and professional expectations. The programme encouraged students to remain curious, develop their skills, and approach their careers with an open and continuous-learning mindset. The interaction highlighted the importance of communication, professionalism, curiosity, adaptability, and continuous learning.
