The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a Cyber Crime Awareness Programme on 9th October 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the Conference Hall of SDM College of Business Management, Mangalore. The programme was addressed by Mr. Vinayak G. Torgal, SP, Barke Police Station, who created awareness among staff members about various forms of cybercrime and the precautions to be taken to stay safe online. He explained cyber threats such as digital arrest scams, phishing attacks, and financial frauds, highlighting how fraudsters exploit technology to deceive, threaten, and harass individuals. He emphasised the importance of protecting personal information, avoiding suspicious links, verifying unknown calls and messages, and exercising caution while using social media and digital platforms. He also highlighted the importance of reporting cybercrime incidents to the police and seeking timely assistance. He also stressed the need to sensitise students about various cybercrimes and educate them on the safe and responsible use of social media. The programme was informative and highlighted the importance of cyber safety awareness and responsible digital practices among both staff and students.
