The Finance Department organised a guest lecture on “Cyber Crime and Awareness” on 31st October 2026 for the III B.Com students. Mr. Dency Lawrence, Senior Manager, Vigilance Department, Regional Office, Indian Overseas Bank, Mangaluru, was the resource person. He provided valuable insights into the increasing incidence of cybercrime and the importance of digital safety in today’s technology-driven world.
The session covered various types of cybercrime, including online banking fraud, phishing, identity theft, OTP frauds, and digital payment scams. He emphasised the importance of safeguarding personal and financial information, using secure online platforms, and adopting responsible digital practices.
The session was informative and helped students understand the risks associated with cybercrime and the precautions required to ensure safe digital transactions. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sowmya Hegde.
