“Augmenting Employability skills in Management Education”

SDM college of Business Management organised  an educative seminar on ‘Augmenting Employability skills in Management Education’ on 30 January 2020. The session was inaugurated by Mr. Giridhar Salian, Director, KGTTI, Mangaluru.  Mr. Shravan Shetty, Career Coach and Skill Development Consultant, Bangalore also an alumni of SDMCBM was the guest of honour and Mr. M Janardhan, Executive Director, RUDSETI, Ujire was the keynote speaker.Prof. Aruna P Kamath, Principal SDMCBM presided over the programme. Mrs. Smitha M, staff coordinator was present on the Dias. 

Mr. Giridhar Salian, said that it is important to turn  spotlight onto the actions of today’s youth, bestowing on them the attitude of having a better aptitude through auxillary skills in today’s corporate world. He also stressed that acquiring additional skills enhances ones employbility skills. Mr Shravan Shetty, said that it is important to focus on a particular skill and develop it phase wise to create an impact in the world. He added that to master any skill one has to put in hours of practice.  Mr. M Janardhan, said that understanding the requirements of the employer and enhancing our skills are vital in the present job market. He added that success comes to us through hardwork.

Prof. Aruna P Kamath, in her presidential remarks said that going beyond education and acquiring employbility skills will bridge the gap between theory and practice.

The inaugural was followed by technical sessions by Mr. Shravan Shetty,  career Coach and Skill Development Consultant, Bangalore, Dr. Jnaneshwar Pai Maroor, Assistant Professor, Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management Karkala  on the topics Role of Academics in Leveraging Management Education for Skill Enhancement and Promotion of Quality Based Management Education respectively. The seminar concluded with paper presentations on various topics by the delegates. Dr. Lokesh, Assistant Professor, First Grade Government College, Punjalkatte and Dr. Santhosh Pinto, Assistant Professor, First Grade Government College, Haleangadi were the chairpersons.
