SDM College of Business Management, Mangaluru, through its Career Guidance and Placement Cell, organised a Career Guidance Programme on “Company Secretary – A Promising Professional Career” on 5th November 2026, in association with the Mangaluru Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). The programme was conducted under the guidance and encouragement of the Principal, reflecting the institution’s commitment to students’ career development and professional growth.
The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness among B.Com and BBA students about the scope, significance and career opportunities in the Company Secretary profession. CS Joel A. D’Souza, M.Com, ACS, Practising Company Secretary and Advisor in Taxation and Corporate Laws, served as the resource person. He shared valuable insights into corporate governance, taxation, statutory compliance and corporate legal responsibilities. He explained the eligibility criteria, course structure, examination stages and professional training requirements of the Company Secretary course. He also highlighted the vital role of Company Secretaries in ensuring transparency, accountability and regulatory compliance in corporate organisations.
Mr. G. Sreekanth, Executive Officer, ICSI Mangaluru Chapter, participated in the programme and provided information regarding course registration and the professional support offered by ICSI. The session highlighted the growing demand for qualified Company Secretaries and the diverse career opportunities available in corporate administration, taxation, legal compliance and corporate governance.
The programme was informative and interactive, enabling students to understand the practical relevance of the Company Secretary qualification and explore professional courses alongside their undergraduate studies. The resource person encouraged students to develop professional competence, ethical values and career-oriented skills.
