World Consumer Day celebration was held here at Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar College of Business Management, on March 15.
The programme was jointly organized by the college, Dakshina Kannada District Administration, District Consumer Affairs Department, and District Disputes Redressal Commission in collaboration with the Federation of District Consumer Organizations, District Consumer Information Centre, Legal Metrology Department, and Legal Authorities.
Krishna Kulkarni, Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, inaugurated the programme and explained about the need of measurements of items before buying and the various benefits that is being provided by the department.
Raghavendra Rao, Legal Adviser of the Union, said, “Every consumer needs to use today’s tools very carefully while carrying out commercial affairs on artificial intelligence and while performing their day-to-day responsibilities.”
Rayee Rajkumar, State Resource Person, Joint Secretary of the Union, who was the guest of honor, gave several examples of the choice of daily food items and also explained the precautions to be taken on the occasion.
Vijaya Bhat, Manager, Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Rafiq Kukkade, Director, DFCO & DCIC, and Edrine DeMello, Deputy Director, were present on the stage.
Prof. Aruna P. Kamath, Principal, SDM College of Business Management, emphasized that the students should conduct business very carefully in their daily life, similarly, the people around them should also be motivated to know about consumer issues.
