Faculty Development Programme on “Enhancing Network Speed through Data Compression”

The Department of Business Management organised a FDP program on “Enhancing Network Speed through Data Compression” on 5th February 2019. The resource person was Mrs. Divya Uchil, Asst. Professor, Department of Computer Application. The objective of the program was to teach the faculties practically to compress data and send it over the internet.

Mrs. Divya opined that at any given time, the ability of the internet to transfer data is fixed. Many files also can be combined into one compressed document, making sending easier, provided that the combined file size is not huge.  The Microsoft office picture manager has the facility of compressing data. The faculties learnt to compress many of the scanned photos and scanned word documents using WinRAR archiver. The program was coordinated by Mrs. Smitha M., Department of Business Management.
