The Finance Department organised a guest lecture on “FinTech” on 2nd November 2026 for the III B.Com students. Mr. Shimil P., Branch Manager, Indian Overseas Bank, M. G. Road, Mangaluru, was the resource person. He provided valuable insights into the emerging trends and developments in Financial Technology and its growing significance in the banking and financial sector.
The session covered various aspects of digital banking, online payment systems, UPI transactions, mobile banking, and the role of technology in transforming financial services. He also highlighted the benefits and opportunities offered by digital financial services, along with the associated challenges, the importance of cybersecurity, and the need for safe digital transactions.
The session was informative and enabled students to gain a better understanding of the practical applications of FinTech in the modern financial system. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sowmya Hegde.
