NSS Annual Camp at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath Government HigherPrimary School, Sarapady, Bantwal

The NSS annual special seven days camp was held at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayath Government Higher Primary School, Sarapady, Bantwal from 28 December 2022 to 3 January 2023. A total of 100 volunteers participated in this camp. The camp was inaugurated by Arun BC Road, Drama artist. The inaugurator said that NSS camp helps to develop personality and social skills among the volunteers. Principal Prof. Aruna P Kamath presided over the programme. Shri Dhananjay shetty, member of Gram panchayat, Mr. Prushotham Mogarumajal, member of Gram Panchayat, Mr. Gopal Poojary, President, SDMC were the distinguished chief guests for the inauguration ceremony. Prior to this “Gramasameekshe” program was conducted by the volunteers. NSS volunteers visited the village houses of Sarapady locality, collected the information regarding their lifestyle, conditions, communicated with the rural people gave awareness about elder helpline and learned about their culture and agriculture. Thandav, Agni, Ugram and Shakthi were the four teams who were assigned several duties like flag hoisting, escorting, campus cleaning and cultural events. 

On 29th December 2022, Educational programme was conducted by the resource person Mr. Nishan Alva and empowered the volunteers about “the role of youth in society”. For the evening formal function Mr. Gopala Poojary, President, SDMC presided over the programme. Mr.Dhananjay Shetty, member of gram panchayat, Mr. Vishwanath Poojary, Director of Maninalkur Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Sangha, Mrs. Leelavathi, Vice president of SDMC, Mr. Kadamajee Poovappa Poojary, former member of panchayat, Maninalkur, Mr Akhil Shetty, Headmaster In-charge of D.K.Z.P. Government Primary School, Sarapady and Mr. Purushotham B Mogarumajal, Member of Panchayat, SDMC were the guest. 

On 30th December 2022, shramadana took place at Government High School, Sarapady. Educational programme on the topic ‘Present Educational Problems’ by Mr Udaya Kumar Jain, Headmaster, KPS Punjalkatte was organized. Followed by a formal function were Mr. B Ramanath Rai, former MLA, Karnataka Government and Mr Richard D’souza, General merchant were the guests

On 31st December 2022, Free Medical Check-up camp was organised in association with SDM Ayurveda college, Mangaluru for the benefit of the villagers. Nearly 100 patients enrolled and were benefited from the free medical check-up. Educational programme on the topic ‘Ayurveda for wellbeing’ by Dr. Prathibha Rai, Administrative Office SDM Ayurveda College, was organized in between. Followed by Dr. Balachandra Shetty, Dentist, conducted educational programme on the topic ‘Dental Health – Healthier mouths brings healthier lives’. For the evening formal function Mr Rajesh Naik, Member of Parliament, Bantwal, Mrs Umavathi, member of SDMC and Mr Pradeep Shetty, Entrepreneur of Sharabheshvara Shamyana, Mavinakatte were the guests. 

On 1st January 2023, an educational programme on the topic ‘NSS RD Camp’ by Mr Akash Shetty, alumni of SDMCBM was organized. Mrs Suchithra, faculty, D.K.Z.P.Government Higher Primary School, Sarapady, Mrs Harinakshi, Member of SDMC, Mr Akash Shetty, Almuni of SDMCBM and Mr Pratham Jain, Alumni of SDMCBM were the guests. 

On 2nd January 2023, the NSS volunteers were taken for a recreational activity called ‘Kesaru Gaddhe’. Mr Chandrahas Shetty, President of Bantara sangha, Bantwal, Mr Bhuvanesh, Entrepreneur of Shubha group, Pacchinadka , Mr Vishwanath Poojary, President of Raktheshvari temple, BC Road, Mr Ismail, member of SDMC, Mrs Nalini, member of SDMC, Mrs Pramila, Member of SDMC, Ms Suraksha, Guest Faculty of D.K.Z.P.Government Higher Primary School, Sarapady, Mr Keshav , entrepreneur of Mudra printers, Mr Sudhakar Shetty, CEO, Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Sangha, and Mr. Purushotham B Mogarumajal, Member of Panchayat and SDMC were the guests for the formal function. NSS Volunteers performed cultural activities on the theme ‘Tulunada Vaibhava’. The volunteers arranged Shibhirajyothi by decorating map of India with flowers and lighting the lamp and the volunteers took the pledge for the welfare of the country. Every day from7.00am to 12pm with an interval for breakfast in between Shramadhana was conducted by the NSS Volunteers.

 On 3rd January 2023, the valedictory programme was organized. Mr. Purushotham B Mogarumajal, Member of Panchayat and SDMC, Mr. Chandraprakash Tumbe, former member of Zilla Panchayat, Mr. Kusumakar Shetty, Agriculturalist, Mr. Gopala Poojary President, SDMC and Mrs. Savitha S Rao, faculty, D K Z P Government Higher Primary School, Sarapady were the guests for the valedictory programme. Principal Prof. Aruna P Kamath presided over the programme. Mr Akshith Kumar K, NSS Programme Officer read out the 7-day annual special camp report. NSS volunteers were awarded with certificates of participation. Volunteers were motivated by awarding All- rounder and Best Camper award, which was read out by Mrs Sanjana, NSS Programme Officer. The camp was successfully organized with the complete support and cooperation of the Grama Panchayath, faculties of school, SDMC Members, NSS programme officers Mr Akshith Kumar K and Mrs Sanjana and all NSS secretaries and volunteers.
