Quick Hands – Typing Titans: A Skill Enhancement Activity

The SCAN Association of the Department of Computer Applications organized a Skill Enhancement Activity, “Quick Hands – Typing Titans,” on the theme “Digital Literacy: Typing Towards a Smarter Future” on Friday, 21 August 2026, at 3:10 PM in Lab S and Lab D. The activity was conducted to enhance students’ digital literacy by developing their typing speed, keyboard accuracy, and overall efficiency in computer usage, which are essential competencies for academic, technical, and professional success.

A total of 104 students from various BCA classes actively participated in the event with great enthusiasm. The competition was conducted using the TypeRoyale online typing platform, where participants completed real-time typing challenges within a fixed time limit of 5 minutes. The website automatically measured each student’s Words Per Minute (WPM) and typing accuracy, providing an objective and transparent evaluation of their performance. The interactive nature of the platform created an engaging and competitive atmosphere, motivating students to improve both their speed and precision.

The activity successfully achieved its intended outcome by helping students evaluate and improve their typing performance in a practical and enjoyable manner. Participants gained greater confidence in their keyboard skills, understood the importance of speed combined with accuracy, and recognized typing proficiency. Overall, the programme effectively fostered practical learning, healthy competition, and digital skill enhancement among the students.
