A Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights was conducted by EDP department of Shri Dharmasthala College of Business Management on 11 March 2019 with the objective of creating awareness among the budding entrepreneurs about Intellectual Property Rights and its implications. It was inaugurated by Mr.Raja Varma Ballal, Proprietor of BMS Hotel, Mangalore. Mr.Prasad Shet, S L Shet Diamond House lady hill, Mangalore, also alumni of the college, was the guest of honour.
Mr.Raja Varma, in his inaugural address pointed out how to overcome issues and challenges in business. Mr.Prasad Shet stressed on the need for developing a passion of following the needs and become successful entrepreneurs in future. Identifying business opportunities in crucial to budding entrepreneurs he added. Principal, Prof Aruna.P.Kamath, in her presidential address pointed out need for awareness of intellectual property rights among the budding entrepreneurs.
The inaugural session was followed by two technical session on topics, “patents rights” by Mr. Vinayak Kamath , advocate and trademark attorney, Mangaluru and “copy rights” by Mr.Sharath kumar, territory manager, Fenesta windows. Large number of students from various colleges took part in the workshop. The workshop was successful in giving motivation to the young entrepreneurs to venture into the exciting field of entrepreneurship. Mrs.Supritha R K, Mr. Sumesh Matada and Mrs.Rashmi , Assistant Professors Co-ordinated the programme.
